What is Burton Richardson’s High Performance Krav Maga?

 Krav Maga is the official defensive tactics system of the Israeli military. Krav Maga means “contact combat”, and is designed to quickly prepare students of various athletic abilities to prevail in extreme self-defense situations. It is an aggressive, all out, ballistic response to a worst case scenario that cannot be avoided. 

 

 The founder, Imi Lichtenfeld’s most famous quote is, “Krav Maga, so one may walk in peace.”  I have researched Krav Maga since the late 90’s when it began to be known in America. I went to schools and studied books and videos. I also learned from friends who had experience in the art. I became certified as a Krav Maga instructor in 2014 under Nir Maman. Nir was Commander of the Israeli Defense Forces Counter-Terror School’s International Training Section. He was decorated with the IDF Soldier Of The Year Award Of Excellence in 2009.
 

 High Performance Krav Maga is a perfect way to continually address the basic approach of using an overwhelming counter attack to defend oneself.

 

 Krav Maga …is very effective for its purpose. It will include defense against empty hand attacks as well as aggressive defenses against attacks with clubs, knives, pistols, and rifles. 

 

 Krav Maga also emphasizes fitness, so expect several rounds on equipment (focus mitts, kicking shields) in each class.

  As always, you go at your own pace and gradually increase your fitness level. 

 

 I have blended in many critical elements that I have learned from my decades in JKD, MMA, and Southeast Asian martial arts. Not just details on techniques, but also training methods from coaching and training with elite level professional fighters. When trained the JKDU High Performance way, (with a resisting partner), Krav Maga quickly equips people to be formidable adversaries instead of helpless victims.
